Research project

Translating Populism: Diffusion Dynamics and Hybrid Circulation Networks of Populist Discourse between New Political Parties in Chile and Spain

During my time as a research fellow at the Democracy Institute of the Central European University in Budapest, I will undertake several tasks aligned with both the institute’s objectives and my own research agenda. First, I will work with Professor Levente Littvay as a research assistant on his project concerning the uses of artificial intelligence in the social sciences, with a particular focus on the analysis of political discourses. Second, I will collaborate with visiting scholar Kirk Hawkins from Brigham Young University, specifically on his research on populism and the application of holistic grading as a method to assess the intensity of populist discursive elements. In this context, my primary responsibility during the fellowship will be to contribute to integrating the holistic grading method with artificial intelligence techniques for analyzing and measuring political discourse. Additionally, as a research fellow at the Democracy Institute, I will participate in all workshops and meetings conducted by the institute.
